Ripple marks in Precambrian sedimentary rock.

Just as ripples on a beach or in a river bed indicate flowing water, so do ancient preserved ripplemarks in rock. These ripple marks formed over a billion years ago and are preserved in the Grinnell Formation of Glacier National Park, Montana.
