Granite of Ashland Pluton and wallrock inclusions, Oregon.
Granite of the Ashland Pluton intruded accreted terranes of the Klamath Mountains during the Jurassic Period, about 161 million years ago. The inclusions in this photo are sedimentary rocks of the Rattlesnake Creek Terrane. Their common orientation likely resulted from entrainment during magmatic flow.
