Star Dune, Death Valley National Park .
Star dunes are those with multiple ridges, or "arms" that lead to the summit --and typically form in areas with multiple prevailing wind directions. As a result, star dunes migrate horizontally at comparatively slow rates, but instead grow upwards. Most really high dunes are star dunes.
