Depostional Contact, Cretaceous Sandstone overlying Conglomerate
Kootenai Formation, SW Montana.
This photo, a close-up of which is shown in the photo below, illustrates how depositional contacts between sedimentary rocks may have small irregularities on the surface that indicate the younger rock was actually deposited on the surface, as opposed to being juxtaposed along a fault. The two rocks appear "glued" together.
